RSI Visual Systems Inc. has completed another innovative visual system technology update for British Airways on the A320 #3 “Level D” qualified Full Flight Simulator. RSI and British Airways believe this update establishes a new level of fidelity and reliability for visual systems used in commercial flight training.
The update is the first time that high resolution 4 Million Pixel DLP projectors, utilizing an LED light source, have been used for Level D Full Flight Simulator training. The DLP/LED projectors, manufactured by projectiondesign, provide a 200 degree horizontal, by 45 degree vertical continuous Field of View, doubling the number of pixels available for a scene display of 12 million pixels – with only three projectors. The resultant image exceeds regulatory requirements in the critical areas of Vertical Field of View, Light Point Resolution, and Brightness.
The RSI XT4 Image Generator provides unmatched environmental features for Adverse Weather conditions and with significantly improved image fidelity provides visual cues that increase scene realism.

Earlier this year, the B737 #2 was also updated with an RSI XT4 Visual System. This brings the total number of RSI Visual Systems to five (5) FFS in training at the British Airways Training Centre. These systems are fitted with 2MP DLP/LED projectors, demonstrating zero maintenance of the visual system over long periods of time.
